Origins: Family has lived in New Jersey for about 3 decades after immigrating from Asia, but I went to undergrad and grad schools in New York. Later, I’ve studied and worked in San Francisco, France, Australia, Japan, Singapore and China. I call Singapore and USA home.
Ashley Chu is a Venture Partner at 1982 Ventures. She is active in investment, portolio management and investor relations. She is experienced in global expansion, business development and product
Ashley has been on advisory board of a few startups, including a successful insurtech startup that raised Series D from Andreessen Horowitz. She is also an advisor for venture capital funds and incubators.
Previously, Ashley worked in the investment team at L Catterton growth and private equity funds, where
she executed investments on technology and consumer companies. She also helped her portfolio
companies grow their online businesses via global strategic partnership execution and product CX
improvement. During her time, she covered four portfolio companies that went IPOs or in the process of filing IPOs.
Prior to L Catterton , Ashley led the global expansion efforts at Amazon, where she was one of the
founding team members at Amazon Singapore and Japan-China Global Store. She managed the product launch and established external partnerships in international markets.
Prior to Amazon, she was a Vice President at BNP Paribas BOW bank and Wells Fargo Bank in San
Ashley studied her MBA degree at INSEAD and Wharton. She also holds a Master’s degree in Statistics
from Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Media Studies from New York University. She passed two levels of the CFA program.
